Use Elon Musk’s techniques at building rockets, etc. to create a multifaceted active surveillance and response system to hopefully prevent, but most importantly — immediately alert police & people nearby and simultaneously suppress and eliminate threats posed by active shooters at schools, workplaces and other key locations.
Main Ideas:
Immediately partner with or buyout and then combine the companies that have or are in progress of providing products and or services for: gunshot detection, infrared gunfire flash detection, facial recognition security, facility access control & intrusion systems, object recognition & tracking technology, and remote attack & suppression systems, to create an active and coordinated system to instantly identify and suppress or eliminate active shooters at key locations with the use of water cannons, pulses of ultra bright light and or lasers, ultra loud speakers and or long range acoustic devices (LRAD), blasts of a chemical irritants via spray or projectiles, bean bag canons and anything else that can be thought of to suppress active shooters.
Of course there will need to be signs outside these key locations alerting people entering about the active shooter suppression system and what may happen to anyone that has or uses a firearm within the location. “Warning / Danger: Active Shooter Suppression System In Use — No Firearms Allowed In This Area — Shooters Will Instantly Be Subjected To Serious Injury Or Possible Death”.
Technologies to develop:
Combine and improve audio gunshot detection products from Gun Shooter Detection Systems and or SenseShot or others with infrared gunfire detection products from Pyreos Sensor Innovation and or Infrared Materials or similar. Use this data to locate, identify and track the shooter, sound the alert and instantly deploy countermeasures against the shooter.
Active shooter countermeasures:
Indoor — drop out of the ceiling rotating turrets.
Outdoor — building or pole mounted rotating turrets.
Both equipped with ultra high def cameras, LED/Laser light arrays, long range acoustic devices, water cannon, nontoxic irritant sprayer, Byrna Pepper Projectile gun, and even possibly a less-lethal bean bag firing shotgun like the ones made by Wilson Combat.
Other ideas:
First, let’s attempt to prevent active shooter(s) from gaining access to key locations by using existing proven access control systems from companies like Stanley Security that utilize RFID badges or biometrics such as facial recognition, and or if a higher level of security is needed add fingerprint and or retina scanners at the points of entry. Or possibly use Mobile Credentials via a person’s smart phone NFC chip for identification.
In case someone gains entry with a hidden weapon and is discovered before the weapon is fired, we need to have emergency buttons (and or smart phone Apps) available like fire alarms throughout these key locations similar to those offered by ASR Alert System and omnilert to sound the alarm warning police and others via audio alert & siren and or smart phone Apps about the active shooter.
Develop the AI needed to make this system totally automatic and reliable thereby eliminating the need for human beings to intervene which would slow the response and cost lives. This is the hard part, but it can’t be as hard as landing a Falcon 9’s first stage on a drone ship in the middle of the ocean! I believe it can be done, and it can be done safely.
